 Spring has arrived! In our garden the spring flowers are blooming and colour is beginning to return after the white-out of much of the winter. There is still the reminder of aridity as the borders look sparse, awaiting the abundance of summer.

Well, we are off tomorrow. Five of us flying from Teesside Airport to Nairobi via Amsterdam. We've had our vaccinations, started taking the malaria tablets and some of the others may even have started packing!

The Chairs of the Darlington & Newcastle Methodist Districts, Rev'ds Ruth Gee and Leo Osborn, are walking down the River Wear starting from Roker in Sunderland in the Newcastle Methodist District on Palm Sunday and finishing, we trust, at Wearhead on Good Friday in the Darlington Methodist District.

We were walking up the hill when we heard it. Hundreds or thousands of birds calling and flying from tree to tree in the wood just below us. It was a flock in action! I have no idea why they were behaving in this way but guessed they might be preparing for migration, a bird-watcher might be able to tell me.
