We were walking up the hill when we heard it. Hundreds or thousands of birds calling and flying from tree to tree in the wood just below us. It was a flock in action! I have no idea why they were behaving in this way but guessed they might be preparing for migration, a bird-watcher might be able to tell me. I don’t even know what types of bird were involved in all the activity, they were too far away, flying too quickly, and I probably wouldn’t have been sure even if I had been able to see them clearly.
I wanted to know what it was all about. What’s happening?
What was certain was that something was happening. There was an excitement about all the activity. There was an expectation that things were changing. There was the realisation that something was being shared between all these birds that was having a profound effect on them, that was changing their lives.
I recall the line from one of the songs in the musical, Jesus Christ Superstar – ‘What’s the buzz, tell me what’s a ’happening’
Where churches and Christian communities are buzzing, people are asking ‘What’s happening?
Let’s get buzzing in our communities – we’ve lots to be excited about!
