Vision

The Darlington District’s vision is to support and encourage Christian communities to develop in ways that:

  • attract people to Jesus Christ
  • reflect God’s presence in the world
  • explore and demonstrate ways to follow Christ and promote God’s rule in contemporary society by the power of the Holy Spirit.

DARLINGTON DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2011-2014

INTRODUCTION
The Methodist circuits which comprise the Darlington District work out their Christian discipleship in a variety of contexts. They seek to discern opportunities for mission and to sustain, resource and challenge the Methodist people as they seek to follow Jesus.

In April 2009 the District adopted a vision statement and the ways in which the District works have been changed in order to enable us all to work to that vision.

Following work by the District Vision and Strategy Team (DVST) and the District Development and Oversight Group (DDOG), Synod approved the Plan in September 2011. This is a strategic plan which identifies the priorities for the District over the next three years. It does not and should not attempt to micro-manage the work of circuits and local churches. It continues to be for Circuits and local churches to manage their work in their context. They will, also be working in the context of the District strategy which, in turn works in the context of Connexional strategy.
