Art Exhibition at Bishop Auckland Methodist Church during May
Mon-Fri 10am-12noon or by special arrangement
At Bishop Auckland Methodist Church we have an exhibition of art from two local artists for the next couple of weeks. One artist is Norman Brewster who was a local preacher in the church and died a couple of years ago. His paintings go back 60 or so years. When his grandson approached us to book his wedding for next year, we mentioned that there was a box of prints / watercolours that Norman had left to the church to sell or do with as we wished. He immediately offered to out bid any bidders and take what was left. We asked if we could do one last exhibition of them and he offered to bring in more pictures he had to contribute to this one last exhibition of his grandfather's work.

At the same time the church is supporting Hope Simpson this year, young local artist and photographer who won a Youth Award from the town council earlier this year. Hope is disabled and unable to attend worship, but contributes by creating reflective art from her photography, three PowerPoint slides each week which are set to music for a three or four minute reflection at the start of worship each week at the church. Her work is available in the No 42 art gallery in the town and for these couple of weeks is accompanying Norman's work in this exhibition which we have entitled 'AN OPEN DOOR ON GOD'S WORLD'. Her work is also for sale as she develops 'Hope Caitlin Treasures', to promote and further interest in her work.

Hospice UK organises an annual awareness week to make these important issues easier to explore with our nearest and dearest and Stokesley Methodist Church is hosting an exhibition to support all those affected.From...

In the next Connexional year the Methodist Church will be celebrating and sharing stories across the country. Personal stories capture our imagination, stimulate interest and encourage us in our own contexts. We hope that everyone will have courage to tell their story in this year of stories. As a catalyst for conversation and storytelling across the North East we hope to publish an initial...
