HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS: A CHALLENGE TO FAITH AND SOCIETY'
Saturday June 16th from 10am until 4pm Cuthbert House, Stonebridge, Durham, DH1 3RY
There has been a dramatic rise in homelessness across our region, more are living on the streets and even more are relying on friends and relatives as they cannot afford or access their own home. Housing, and the provision of it is a crisis in our country. This is an Ecumenical study day and an opportunity to come together, discuss the issues in the region and wider and explore some possible ways forward and what we, faith communities, can do together.
The day will feature Fr. Peter McVerry S.J., an Irish Jesuit who was has campaigned on housing issues in Dublin for the past 40 years. He has set up the Peter McVerry Trust 'Opening Doors to Homeless People'. We will be joined by others who are providing support to those with housing issues in our region, so we can hear from them and each other
The day is free and open to all but please book a place using the link here.
Bring your own lunch, refreshments provided. Registration, refreshments from 9.30am.
