Forest Church Gathering 19.09.2026 Scorton Lakes

Forest Church

Join us as we come together in the North Yorkshire Dales Methodist Circuit For Forest Church gatherings!

Leave the church walls behind, breathe the fresh Dales air, and deepen your connection with creation and God.

Starting in September, we will meet in beautiful outdoor locations across the circuit. Come and explore the theme for this year, Rhythms of creation and celebrate God's beauty in nature.

What is Forest Church?  Forest Church is outdoor worship that connects faith with nature. We leave traditional church walls behind to experience God directly in nature. Whether you are a long-time believer, seeking to explore your own spirituality or just love being outdoors, you are warmly welcome.

Forest Church is outdoor worship that connects faith with nature. Despite the name ‘Forest Church’ isn't limited to forests, it can take place anywhere! Our gatherings will span remote, rural, and more urban settings across the circuit.

Rhythms of Creation: This year, our gatherings will focus on ‘Rhythms of Creation’. We will look at how nature moves and changes. You will learn to notice the small, quiet details of the world. Through guided walks, quiet prayer, and hands-on activities, you will deepen your connection with both creation and God.

What to Expect:

  • Monthly Gatherings: We meet on the third Saturday of the month (dates and times may vary for special seasonal events).
  • Various Locations: We will gather in different beautiful outdoor spaces across the North Yorkshire Dales Methodist Circuit, discovering God in the beauty of Wensleydale, Coverdale, Swaledale, Arkengarthdale, and the Lower Dales to name just a few.
  • Family-Friendly: Our events are designed to be interactive, engaging, and welcoming for all ages.
  • All-Weather: We will be outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy, comfortable footwear.

Accessibility: All are welcome to join us, regardless of age or background. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Some locations will require a walk, while others will be easily accessible. If you have access needs, please contact Rev Jo to see if a location is suitable for you.

What to bring: We meet in all weathers, so please dress appropriately. You may want to bring something to sit on for a time of reflection, also a snack and something to drink.

Stay Up to Date: Keep an eye out for our advertising posters each month for the locations and times.
