Job Vacancy – Darlington & Teesdale Circuit

The Darlington & Teesdale Circuit are seeking to appoint a Local Church Community Development Worker based at the Methodist churches at Hurworth, Haughton and Harrowgate Hill. (Initially to work with Hurworth and Harrowgate Hill.)

The key purposes of the role are to:

• Work in partnership to set up and develop new initiatives for ministry opportunities and deepening relations with surrounding communities.
• To encourage and initiate spiritual conversations and discipleship formation within each church's community and networks.
• To discern, pray and scope work into immediate, short- and long-term priorities for each church and churches together, that create opportunities for community outreach and missional engagement.
• To set up and lead regular group activities that foster church and community relations and encourage Christian fellowship for various age groups
• To identify opportunities for funding applications that develop activities and outreach opportunities.

This is a part-time role (30h/pw) with salary paid at National Living Wage (£12 per hour). The role is offered initially on a three-year fixed-term contract (commencing 2nd April 2024), but may be extended subject to funding.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010: Schedule 9, Part 1, there is an Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practicing Christian.
