Methodist Peace Fellowship Annual Meeting
Saturday 6th June 2026, 11.30 – 3.30
Roker Methodist church, Sunderland
AGM – Looking back and planning ahead
Join The Methodist Peace Fellowship for lunch as we review the year’s activities, elect new executive committee members, and plan the year ahead. All are welcome but only members may vote.
Keynote – Rev John Purdy, Methodist Minister
"The land of Saints and Scholars, Civil War and Semtex – what we might learn from Ireland today."
John ministered to a community in rural Ireland who held stories of intimidation and murder from 80 years before, and now welcomed asylum seekers and refugees with their own trauma. He will talk about his work for peace, mediation and what he learnt and now brings to work in Sunderland
Workshop – Liddy Buswell, MPF Coordinator
"Building peaceful communities in a divided world"
What does it mean to love our neighbour when the world seems filled with hate? What role can the Church play in healing communities? Can what we do locally make a difference in the wider world?
