Methodists for World Mission (a Methodist Charity working closely with Global Relationships) are organising:
A Pilgrimage To Panjab for Christian/Sikh Learning
24 September – 7 October 2026
The pilgrimage will be led by the Revd. Inderjit Bhogal a former President of the British Methodist Conference and Methodists in World Mission.
Sikh and Christian will meet and share their faith convictions, exploring points of similarity and difference, and for Christians to reflect on the challenges of living your faith in a multi-faith context.
The pilgrimage will include time in Delhi, Agra for a visit to Taj Mahal, a visit to Rampur the birth place of Sadhu Sundar Singh, and Amritsar with a visit to Harmandir Sahib (also known as the Golden Temple), a conference on Christian/Sikh dialogue, and a visit to the India/Pakistan border. There will also be a short retreat in Dalhousie in the foothills of the Himalayas. Above all, the pilgrimage will give Christians the opportunity to stand on the holiest ground of the Sikh faith and to explore their own faith under the spotlight of Sikhism.
It is hoped that there will also be opportunity for meetings with Government representatives to talk about the religious profile of a richly diverse country and the particular contribution of Christianity to it.
The Revd Dr Inderjit Bhogal will act as the spiritual guide and interpreter, leading the participants in their own spiritual pilgrimage. His Christian understanding of Sikhism is not that of an outsider, but a reflection of his own cultural background.
The Pilgrimage is open to all Methodists.
